I split my time and energy between two industries. The first is a speculative, experimental world where I develop new ideas for how technology can better reflect our humanity. Some of this work is done in conjunction with the Columbia Digital Storytelling Lab.
Much of my other professional work focuses on improving civic and government technnology. Clients have included Code for America, BrightHive, and the Santa Monica Public Library.
I am also a public speaker and workshop facilitator. I've recently spoken at Personal Democracy Forum, Bloomberg's Data for Good Exchange, and Interaction16, where I presented on how to build better products with emotional data.
In 2015, I received an MFA in Interaction Design from the School of Visual Arts. Throughout school I worked as a design researcher for Scripps Networks and for frog design.
Eventually I'll have more work listed here. In the meantime, please contact me for my portfolio and CV. I also invite you to explore one of my favorite personal projects, a research method I developed that combines biometrics, video, GPS, and text to better understand how residents feel about their neighborhood.
